Elevation Certificate_ We Offer Free Quotes (408)-540-7687 Why do I need an elevation certificate? FEMA has determined which parcels of land are within designated Flood Hazard Areas. Flood insurance is required for parcels within Flood Hazard areas and the cost is based on the height of the building. An elevation certificate prepared by a Licensed Land Surveyor determines the height of the building in relation to the Base Flood Elevation and can be used to reduce the cost of the insurance.
